News
Due to unforseeable circumstances, EEA's October meeting has been cancelled. We are currently actively looking for a new host for EEA meeting. If you have any suggestion please feel free to email Peter Wong.

Here is an email from our fearless leader about what is the latest in the world of anime:
OK, people: I've just received the following hot tip. "Millennium Actress" has opened at the Sony Metreon (4th & Mission in S.F.) as of Sept. 12th for an exclusive limited run engagement. (In other words, this is the only place in the Bay Area where you can see this movie on the big screen.) Depending on the box office numbers, this limited run usually lasts one or two weeks so catch this film at the Metreon while you can. If you're travelling by car, there is a public parking garage and a Mel's Diner across the street from the Metreon. For those of you who don't know what "Millennium Actress" is, this is the latest work from director Satoshi Kon ("Perfect Blue") and is described as the sleeper anime hit of this summer. For more details on this film (including plot summary and trailer clips), check them out at this movie's official web site: http://www.millenniumactress-themovie.com/ . As a bonus for being on EEA's e-mail list, you also get extra news on not one but two contests associated with "Millennium Actress". Contest #1 (*** Note tight deadline ***): SF Bay Guardian and Things From Another World are sponsoring a drawing to give out free screening passes to "Millennium Actress". Each screening pass is good for free admission for two people on some shows during this film's run-of-engagement at the Metreon. To enter this drawing, bring a self-addressed, stamped #10 envelope to Things From Another World (located on the 2nd floor of the Metreon at 4th & Mission St.) and deposit it in the contest box on the counter. All entries must be received no later than Tuesday, Sept. 16th at 10 PM to qualify for this drawing. Winners will be notified by mail. To discourage box stuffing, each winner will be limited to only one screening pass per person/household will while supplies last. Contest #2: If you miss this movie on the big screen, don't worry. DreamWorks Pictures will release "Millennium Actress" on DVD in late October. DreamWorks Pictures is also sponsoring a contest to give away 25 free DVDs of this movie. To win 1 of 25 free copies of "Millennium Actress", visit http://www.millenniumactress-themovie.com/ , click on the "Enter to Win a DVD" web link, and fill out and submit the entry form by Nov. 3rd. Enter as often as you wish but you can only submit one entry per day. Feel free to enter either or both contests if you're interested and good luck. --- Larry and Peter
